Black Bean Brownies Recipe

  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee (optional)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips, divided (optional)
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
  2. Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking pan and set aside.
  3. Combine the black beans, eggs, oil, cocoa powder, salt, vanilla extract, sugar, and instant coffee in a blender or food processor until smooth.
  4. Stir in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and walnuts, if using.
  5. Pour the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips (if using) over the top of the mixture.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven until the top is dry and the edges start to pull away from the sides of the pan, about 25 to 30 minutes.
  8. Cool completely on a wire rack and then cut brownies into desired size and shape.

  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
  2. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and set aside.
  3. Puree the beans and water together in a blender or food processor until smooth.
  4. Stir into the brownie mix until combined.
  5. Stir in 1/2 cup chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  7. Bake for 25-27 minutes or until a toothpick inserted 2 inches from the side of the pan comes out almost clean.
  8. Cool completely on a wire rack and then cut into desired size and shape brownies.
