Chocolate Chip Dalmatian Cookies

This unique twist on traditional chocolate chip cookies results in very tasty Chocolate Chip Dalmatian Cookies.

You'll notice that this recipe calls for white chocolate in addition to mini chocolate chips.

You might be wondering, "What exactly is white chocolate anyway?"

White chocolate differs from chocolate chocolate because it doesn't contain any cocoa solids.

Due to it's lack of cocoa solids, white chocolate only contains minimal amounts of caffeine and theobromine (common stimulants found in other chocolates.)

The main inredients in white chocolate are cocoa butter, sugar, milk solids and salt.

Be careful when melting white chocolate as it tends to burn easily.

To avoid scorching your white chocolate simply melt it over medium to low heat.

If stored in a cool and dry place, your white chocolate morsels or baking bar should keep for about 6 to 10 months.

Easy Chocolate Chip Dalmatian Cookies Recipe

  • 4 ounces white chocolate, chopped into 1/4-inch pieces
  • 3/4 pound unsalted butter, cut into 1-ounce pieces
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate mini-morsels
  1. Preheat oven to 325F degrees.
  2. Heat 1 inch of water in bottom half of double boiler over medium heat. With heat on, place white chocolate in top half of double boiler. Use a rubber spatula to stir the chocolate until completely melted and smooth, about 2 minutes.
  3. Transfer melted white chocolate to a bowl and set aside.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine butter and sugar and beat on medium until soft. Scrape down sides of bowl and continue to beat until light (but not fluffy).
  5. Add the vanilla extract and melted white chocolate and beat on medium for 1 minute.
  6. Slowy add flour and salt and mix until well combined.
  7. Stir in the mini chocolate morsels until combined.
  8. Using heaping tablespoon-size portions, gently roll the cookie dough into balls.
  9. Place balls of dough onto non-stick cookie sheets (or cookie sheets lines with parchment paper), evenly spaced at least 2 inches apart.
  10. Bake the cookie sheets (one at a time) for 14 to 16 minutes, rotating the sheets 180 degrees from front to back halfway through baking time.
  11. Remove from oven and allow cookies to cool to room temperature on sheets, about 20 minutes.

Makes about 4 dozen Chocolate Chip Dalmatian Cookies

These Chocolate Chip Dalmatians will keep well for several days stored at room temperature in an airtight container. For longer storage, freeze cookies in tightly sealed plastic container. Be sure to allow enough time to thaw frozen cookies up to room temperature naturally, before serving.

Testimonials

"I have been researching and trying a number of recipes to make a healthy cookie similar to one that our Gym coffee shop sells for $3.50! This particular recipe was adapted so instead of bars I made thick round cookies and cooked them just underdone so they were soft and chewy. They were a hit with all the girls. Thanks for the great recipe."
