Recipe for Cheerio Bars

This Easy No Bake Recipe for Cookies using Cheerios is a fun, sweet, and delicious way to eat your Cheerios.

It's also a nice alternative to everyone's favorite No Bake Cereal Bars - Rice Krispies Rreats.

If you are a fan of Cheerios toasted oat cereal, these Cheerio Peanut Butter Bars are for you!

Actually we have two variations of the Cheerio peanut butter bar recipe for you.

The first is a traditional cheerio peanut butter bar recipe made with light corn syrup, sugar, peanut butter, and Cheerios that is topped with a luscious layer of melted chocolate and peanut butter.

The second is a slightly healthier recipe for cookies using Cheerios that substitutes honey for the light corn syrup and mixes chocolate chips and salted peanuts in with the cereal.

Each is delicious so the choice is yours. Try both and see which Recipe for Cheerio Bars you like best.

Recipe for Cheerio Bars with Peanut Butter & Chocolate

  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups peanut butter
  • 6 cups Cheerios cereal
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (12 ounce bag)
  1. Lightly butter a 13x9-inch pan and set aside.
  2. In a large 4 quart saucepan or Dutch oven, heat the corn syrup and sugar over medium-high heat until it boils, stirring constantly. Continue to cook until the sugar is completely dissolved then remove from the heat.
  3. Add 1 cup of the peanut butter and stir until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Add the cereal and mix well.
  5. Immediately press the cereal mixture into the buttered pan. (Damp hands may work best)
  6. In a medium-size saucepan, set over low heat, melt the chocolate chips and 1/4 cup peanut butter, stirring the mixture constantly until it is smooth, melted, and well blended.
  7. Remove from the heat and spread the chocolate-peanut butter mixture over the Cheerio bars.
  8. Refrigerate the pan of Cheerio bars about 30 minutes or cool completely at room temperature, until the chocolate is set.
  9. Cut into desired size and shape bars.

Testimonials

"I have been researching and trying a number of recipes to make a healthy cookie similar to one that our Gym coffee shop sells for $3.50! This particular recipe was adapted so instead of bars I made thick round cookies and cooked them just underdone so they were soft and chewy. They were a hit with all the girls. Thanks for the great recipe."
