Although these brownies call for canola oil, use your oil of choice. I often substitute with coconut oil and like the taste and texture it provides.

One Bowl Chocolate Vegan Brownies Recipe

Looking for a vegan brownie recipe that is quick and easy with no unusual ingredients? Here it is. This recipe makes a 9x13-inch pan of great tasting one bowl brownies that are dairy-free and egg-free.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water or coffee
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup applesauce or mashed bananas
  • 1 cup vegan chocolate chips (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
  2. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt with a whisk.
  4. Pour in water or coffee, vegetable oil, vanilla and applesauce (and chocolate chips if using); mix until just blended.
  5. Spread evenly into prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until center is set and toothpick inserted two inches from the side of the pan comes out almost clean.
  7. Let cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into desired size and shape.

Vegan Espresso Brownies Recipe

These easy to make brownies are cake like, made extra special with the addition of instant coffee. If you prefer your brownies without nuts simply leave them out.

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups soy milk or rice milk or almond milk
  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee powder
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup vegan chocolate chips
  1. Preheat oven to 325F degrees.
  2. Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking pan and set it aside.
  3. Dissolve the instant coffee in the oil and set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add your choice of 'milk,' oil, walnuts, and chocolate chips. Mix together until just combined. Over mixing can cause your brownies to be tough.
  6. Pour the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted two inches from the edge of the pan comes out almost clean.
  7. Let cool completely on a wire rack and then cut the brownies into desired size and shape.

Maple Cocoa Flax Vegan Brownies Recipe

These are deliciously dense brownies your whole family is sure to enjoy.

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup ground flax seeds
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/4 cup soy milk, or rice milk, or almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup vegan chocolate chips
  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
  2. Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking pan and set it aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, stir together the first six ingredients (sugar through vanilla) and let stand for 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the flour, cocoa, salt, and walnuts until just combined. Over mixing can cause your brownies to be tough.
  5. Pour the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted two inches from the edge comes out almost clean.

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegan chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
  2. Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking pan and set it aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix applesauce, sugar, and vanilla.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Add the applesauce mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Gently stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and bake 20 to 30 minutes, or until the center is firm and a toothpick inserted two inches from the edge comes out almost clean.
