Cookies with Altitude, Leadville Colorado

by Char Duran
(Fort Lupton, CO)

A Rocky Mountain Cookie High!!!
Cookies with Altitude has a cookie for anyone's taste. From the sweet tooth (snapper doodles), chocolate lovers (dark side suprise) and the healthy (LT 100s).

Everything is made there at the shop. Stay a while and talk to the owner and you will learn just how difficult it is to bake at 10200 feet. (who knew??)

Each recipe has to be adjusted, but you couldn't tell by the taste. I would say they taste just like Grandma's, but with Altitude!

If cookies aren't your thing, there are many other sinful treats. Cakes, Fruit Tarts and FUDGE.

I felt like I gained 10 pounds on my visit, but felt better when the owner told me that calories are afraid of the altitude and jump off the truck on the way up. LOL

A great place to visit when in Leadville, you will want to take some of these treats home with you.

Become a fan on FaceBook and you can order online I was told.

Best Ever NEW

We drove through Leadville on our vacation this summer and what a find! I bought a dozen cookies but I have to say the Ginger Snap Backs are the best! The employees are wonderful and full of information We talked for quite some time about our vacation. Sad you are so far away.

We drove into Leadville on our vacation and I just had to have cookies. I bought a dozen but the Ginger Snaps Back were by far the best! The owners were great! We talked for quite some time about our vacation. My husband got a fresh cinnamon roll that was excellent! Wish you weren't so far away.

Got Taken
by: Carol S. Thornton, CO

We were up in Leadville 7-6-12, stopped for lunch since Cookies with Altitude had been recommened. Don't get me wrong the sandwiches were delicious, but the cost was terrible. We were told for $8.00 we would receive a sandwich, chips, drink & cookie, we thought Great, so we ordered, my husband paid, when we got home and I was entering stuff into the check book I almost died! $25.66 for Lunch! how does $16.00 for two become $25.66, also the owner was more interested in talking to a old friend than paying attention to customers, several others walked in & out due to the fact they had the entire front area tied up "catching" up.
Must be the ALTITUED huh-unhappy customer, Oh and the cookies really weren't that good.

Frozen bread
by: Anonymous

Don't go here if you expect fresh baked goods. Their bread is not freshly baked there and is a frozen product. Their cookies have a hint of lemon to all of them, so if you don't like citrus then you won't like their sugar cookies. The person that said she owned the place is not friendly to tourist and seems to prefer when locals come in over tourist. Prices are a little high when it comes to the kind of products they are selling. (frozen) Cookies are a little dry and I prefer cookies/cupcakes that are moist.
