Frosted Sugar Cookies

Frosty sugar cookies are the the cookies which my grandma made for me when I visited her during the holidays.

I love these cookies very much and they always make me think of those special times that I shared with my grandmother.

So friends, here is the recipe, I hope you enjoy them as much as our family does!

Frosty Sugar Cookies Recipe

  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup castor ("superfine") sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg powder

  • 3 3/4 cups castor ("superfine") sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup cream
  • liquid food colors (assorted)

Combine butter, cream cheese, egg yolk and castor sugar together in a stand mixer and mix well.

Add all-purpose flour, vanilla extract and almond extract and beat until thoroughly combined.

Add salt, baking soda and nutmeg and give a final mix.

Cover the dough and keep refrigerated for at least 2 hours.

When you are ready to bake your cookies, preheat your oven to 375F degrees.

On a clean, flat, and lightly floured surface (to prevent sticking), roll out the dough.

Cut different shapes of dough with 2 1/2 inch cookie cutters and place on ungreased (or parchment-lined) cookie sheets at least 2 inches apart.

Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove cookies to wire racks and cool completely.

Prepare the frosting by adding castor sugar, cream, water and food coloring to give a beautiful look. Mix well until icing is desired consistency for frosting cookies.

Decorate cookies with frosting, colorful sprinkles and some candies.

Cool the cookies for several hours and keep them in an airtight container for freshness.
