Simple Date Walnut Bars

These chewy date nut bars are the simplest cookie bar I've ever made. With only six ingredients, you may already have everything you need to make these delicious treats. The best part is that there's very little mixing and measuring because the main ingredient is a package of yellow cake mix!

Simple Date Walnut Bars

Ingredients:
  • 1 package (18.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups chopped dates
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Lightly grease a 13x9-inch baking pan and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, stir together the cake mix and brown sugar.

With an electric mixer on medium speed, beat in the eggs and butter for about 2 minutes (mixture will be stiff).

Stir the dates and walnuts into batter until distributed throughout.

Spread batter into prepared pan.

Bake for 35-45 minutes or until edges turn golden brown.

Remove from oven and let pan cool on wire rack for 10 minutes. Run a small knife between bars and edge of pan to loosen.

Once completely cooled, cut bars into desired size and shape.

This recipe makes about 36 Simple Date Walnut Bars.
